A Dinner Back in Time
The David by Michelangelo Views From the Bell TowerInside the Bell Tower
Once a week my schools program travels to Florence for our Art History class. Normally, we leave Certaldo around 8 or 9 am, and return around 7 pm. This time we had an overnight trip to spend more time in Florence. We toured Giotto’s Campanile, which is a giant bell tower built in the 14th century. Inside there are many beautiful pieces of art, and once held Michelangelo’s David (which we got to see the next day! I still have no words for it!). We also had the opportunity to tour the Uffizi Museum. I unfortunately missed touring the Bargello Museum that morning as I was sick and at the doctors… 🙁

After touring we hiked sooooo many stairs (I thought by now I’d be used to all the hills and stairs in Italy.. nope!) to San Miniato and Piazza Michelangelo to watch the sunset over Florence. The view was gorgeous, and at the piazza there was live music by a street performer! He actually sang some classics in English!

Once the sun was down and we were getting cold, we took the walk to Palazzo Borghese, a beautiful 16th century palace where dinner is served along with traditional entertainment from that era! They even got us involved in the show! I personally love dinner-shows, even back home!
