Everything You Forgot To Pack for Studying Abroad!

After spending a semester abroad, there was quite a few things I am glad I brought with me, and some things I forgot, but wish I had! Here’s a list of everything  you need:

  • Converter/Adapter
    • For obvious reasons!
  • Cheap Flip Flops/Shower Shoes
    • Staying in hostels can be grimy and gross. Especially showers! Think communal bathrooms! Gross!)
  • Slippers
    • Depending where you live, the building might be made of stone, so it will probably be really cold.
  • Water Bottle
    • This will save you a ton of money when it comes to waters, and its good for the environment!
  • Headphones
    • If you know you’ll be touring museums, chances are you’ll be using headsets to listen to the tour guide, and its always better to use your own
  • Small Backpack/Purse
    • Many places don’t allow large bags inside, and may require you to check it. A small one is your best bet, and its better than carrying everything in your pockets!
  • Extra Memory Card
    • You’ll take more pictures than you think
  • Portable Charger
    • there can be very long days with no access to chargers, or maybe you just forgot to charge your phone the night before!
  • Neck Pillow
    • I personally didn’t have one and regretted it. The amount of time you spend on planes, trains, and buses makes for uncomfortable sleeping!
  • International Phone Plan
    • This was a lifesaver, as the phones my program provided weren’t the most reliable and being able to use my Iphone to look up restaurants or maps was the best thing ever!
  • Comfortable Shoes
    • I wore my sneakers more than anything due to the amount of walking I did!
  • Extra Socks
    • I swear a ghost must have been taking my socks because I lost so many pairs!
  • Pens and Pencils
    • Save yourself the effort and money and bring your own pens and pencils. The ones I bought constantly ran out of ink
